The Role of the Bra Band ππ»
In my previous post, I talked about the two main functions of a bra: support and security.
The band is the foundation that makes both possible.
Β
A bra should feel comfortable, without digging in or leaving deep marks on your skin.
But if it feels too loose, it may mean the fabricβs elasticity has significantly worn out.
When that happens, the weight of your breasts is no longer properly distributed between the band and the straps β putting much more strain on your shoulders and spine.
This can lead to:
-
Back pain
-
Deep strap grooves in your shoulders
-
Overall discomfort when wearing your lingerie
Β
How to choose the correct band size:
Β
-
Measure your underbust circumference.
-
When trying on a new bra, always fasten it on the loosest hook setting β this gives you room to tighten it as the fabric stretches over time.
-
If the bra band is made of lace, mesh, or highly elastic microfiber, you may need to choose a larger sister size(more on that in an upcoming post).
